Meet Heather Munroe
Doctor of Chiropractic
Dr. Heather Munroe graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) with a Doctorate in Chiropractic in 2005. She has practiced in Toronto, Vancouver, owned a multidisciplinary clinic in Collingwood Ontario and has been practicing in Pemberton for the last ten years. Previously, she attended the University of Utah on an alpine skiing scholarship and completed her undergraduate degree in Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia in 2000.
During her chiropractic education, she became fully certified in Active Release Technique (ART), which is a soft tissue, movement based, massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. She has taken extensive orthotic training courses and finds orthotic inserts a “game changer” for some. A mother herself, Heather has completed several courses from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA).
Heather is a former member of Canada’s National Alpine Ski Team and an avid cyclist and runner. As a devoted runner, she qualified for and completed the Boston Marathon in 2004. Since then, she found the love for mountain biking and ultra trail running. Living in Pemberton, she appreciates her backyard playground and is found biking, running and or skiing. She won the Whistler Soudain Couloir extreme race in 2022 and has raced the infamous Peak to Valley race for over 20 years. Through her extensive sporting career she gained profound experience in dedicating herself to training and sports injury management. Chiropractic care helped Heather through her own back injuries and from those positive experiences she decided to pursue this form of health care as her career.
Heather’s communication and listening skills combined with healing energy and strong hands on treatments allow her to help her patients to achieve pain relief, injury prevention, and performance enhancement through a drug-free, non-invasive approach. She invites you to discover the role that chiropractic care can have in helping you reach your highest personal potential

What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic, as one of the largest primary care professions in British Columbia, is an evidence-based discipline that focuses on the musculoskeletal system. It is a non-invasive form of healthcare that involves hands-on treatment.
Chiropractors primarily use their hands to diagnose, treat, and prevent disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system, and joints. They employ a combination of treatments tailored to the specific needs of each patient. This includes taking a thorough medical history, conducting an examination, and establishing a diagnosis. Based on this information, chiropractors develop and implement a comprehensive treatment plan. They may also recommend therapeutic exercise, non-invasive therapies, and provide guidance on nutrition, diet, and lifestyle.
One of the most commonly used therapies by chiropractors is spinal manipulative therapy (SMT), which encompasses various adjustment techniques. Chiropractors receive specific training in SMT, enabling them to perform precise adjustments to the vertebrae of the spine. These adjustments correct joint motion, restore proper movement, and enhance overall function.
Chiropractic care is often the primary method of treatment for conditions such as low back pain. In cases where a multi-disciplinary approach is necessary, chiropractors collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as acupuncture therapists or registered massage therapists, to coordinate care. Chiropractic care can complement or support medical or other treatments by addressing the musculoskeletal aspects associated with the condition.
Furthermore, chiropractic care can provide symptomatic relief for patients with chronic conditions.

About Animal Chiropractic
Dr Heather is a recent graduate from Animal Chiropractic Education
Source in Meridian, Texas and is ready to provide Animal Chiropractic
for patients in the Sea to Sky corridor. Dr Heather has completed a
rigorous 240 hours of training and 100 exams, including neurology,
pathology, zoonotic disease and technique in Animal Chiropractic.
This has prepared her to serve the animals in her practice area.
Animal Chiropractic Education Source is one of the four schools
approved by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association to
prepare doctors for certification in Animal Chiropractic. This
training allows Dr. Heather to practice within the scope of her
Provincial and National regulations.
Animals who receive regular chiropractic maintenance live longer,
healthier and happier lives. Athletic animals that receive regular
adjustments compete at higher levels, older animals with declining
quality of life regain some quality and less pain, and lame animals
with compensating mechanics or pinched nerves can resolve their
mechanical dysfunctions, giving them a pain-free and functional life
again.
If you think your animal might benefit from a chiropractic
examination and adjustment, please book online or contact her at
